Free guided walking event for Ukrainian refugees

Thursday 11th January saw the first Sustainable Development Fund funded guided walk of 2024 with a Ukrainian group to Mistley in the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscapes.

The guided walk, as part of our ongoing Landscapes for All work, was organised in partnership with the Suffolk Refugee Support and Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership team, whereby rail tickets were funded by Greater Anglia.

The group started the walk from Manningtree Station and visited Lawford Church in the Dedham Vale National Landscape, before walking the Essex Way to Mistley Towers.

It was a cold day but the group thoroughly enjoyed the walk along the Mistley Walls spotting redshanks , common shelducks, swans and many more. It was a fantastic way for the women to spend time outdoors in nature and get to know new parts of our protected landscapes.
