The Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Landscapes for All Officer, in conjunction with Essex Community Rail Partnership and Refugee, Asylum seeker & Migrant Action (RAMA) organised an engagement day out for Ukrainian families with their children during the half term week.
The group were guided from Colchester on the train through to Wrabness in the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where they enjoyed a misty yet stunning walk down to the River Stour stopping to look at Grayson Perry’s House for Essex along the way and taking in the beautiful scenery.
They then enjoyed a fish and chip lunch at Harwich whilst taking in the stunning view of the Shotley Peninsula before heading back by train to Colchester.
Feedback from the group was very positive and this day out has given the families the knowledge on how to access this area and to be able to revisit the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty independently in their own time.
