Last week saw the final beachcombing event in a series funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, taking place in the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The most recent event was with the Home Instead group. They work in Ipswich, Felixstowe and Woodbridge to support clients in the local community with Companionship, Home help, Personal care, Dementia care, Live-in, and End of life care.

We were delighted to welcome Karibu African Women’s Support Group to the first session, where we searched the shoreline at Old Felixstowe for hidden treasures. The group found some sea glass, geode rocks, an 80-million-year-old fossil sea sponge and three shark’s teeth!

The sessions were organised by the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team and have been delivered by Beach Bonkers at some of Suffolk’s iconic shingle beaches.

Like all our upcoming National Lottery Heritage Funded activities, the aim was to connect new audiences to the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and teach people about the wealth of exciting opportunities to engage with the natural environment in our designated landscapes.
