Every September thousands of people across the UK head to the coast to take part in the Great British Beach Clean, a week-long citizen science event, where hundreds of beach cleans take place up and down the UK.
Our second Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Beach Clean event is taking place on Saturday 23rd September at Kessingland Beach and is open to anyone to come along!
The event will run from 9:30am – 11:30am for the beach clean and survey of 100m sections. If anyone wishes to stay on we’ll have lunch 12:00pm – 12:30pm and do an optional wider clean of the beach if needed from 12:30pm – 2:30pm.
Location: We will be collecting and surveying on the beach below the Waterfront Café at Kessingland NR33 7SB. Grid Reference TM 53710 85812– What3Words utensil.scar.hails.
Timings: Meet near the Waterfront Café at Kessingland at 9.15am
- Lunch is not provided – you will need to bring your own packed lunch/drinks or use local facilities
- We will hopefully be joined by Kessingland Beach’s own ‘tidy team’
Parking near the Café is limited, so please park further up the road to the beach and walk down to the Café.
Getting There: Everyone to make their own way.
Wear: Sturdy boots (hard toe if possible – no worries if not), hat and gloves. Bring lots to drink and wear sun protection and top it up. Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.
Bring: All equipment will be supplied apart from gloves – please bring your own strong, washable and reusable gloves. Bring food and drink to keep you ‘fuelled up’ during the morning! Bring warm clothing, comfortable footwear, and waterproofs depending on the weather!
