The annual Great British Beach Clean organised by the Marine Conservation Society is back for 2024 – get involved!

This year’s Great British Beach Clean is only a few months away, and it’s great to see people registering beach cleans. This year’s event will take place between Friday 20th and Sunday 29th September, and we hope to see you there.

As always, there will be beach clean events taking place in the Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape as part of our ongoing Beachwatch volunteering programme.

A massive thank you to those of you who took part in events up and down the UK and Channel Islands last year. We’re looking forward to heading out to beaches to help clean up our coast once more and we’d love for you to get involved again!

Beach Clean

If you’re planning to organise a beach clean as part of the Great British Beach Clean, please add your event to the Marine Conservation Society website as soon as you can – they’ll be sharing these with the public to join from August.

The Marine Conservation Society want to ensure there are plenty of beach cleans people can attend, with events in as many areas as possible across the UK and Channel Islands. They are asking all our volunteer organisers to get their events registered, if possible, by Wednesday 31st July 2024.

As there are due to be some high tides over the first Great British Beach Clean weekend, please check September tides in your area. To stay safe, we recommend planning your clean 2 hours after high tide to ensure it’s heading out during your clean.

If you need any help and support, you can contact the Beachwatch team by emailing [email protected] or calling 01989 567807. We’re here Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, if you’re experiencing any problems.
